With a little forethought, your hot tub during a rainstorm can be a relaxing, stimulating and rejuvenating delight! “WHAT? Sasha you’re crazy!” Nope, just well-adjusted to the realities of our West Coast climate, here are some simple steps you can take to have your own spa experience at home.
Step 1: Toss your robe in the dryer to warm it.
Step 2: Find a water resistant hat with a sturdy Brim or a thick toque. Some folks use their umbrella, but I enjoy the feeling of the rain on my face.
Step 3: Make your favorite bevvy. My personal favorite is a glass of Kombucha over ice, or a mug of piping hot green tea.
Step 4: Put on some non- slip shoes. Decks can be slippery when wet and a ripping slide on your butt or hip will definitely take the spa feel out of this experience! I like my crocs as they don’t care if they get wet.
Step 5: Take your biggest towel and hang it in a dry area as nearby as possible.
Step 6: Get in your hot tub and let all of the annoying realities and weighty responsibilities of your life slip away. Allow your senses to take in your surroundings. The freshness of the air, the hot water on your body, the thrill of the rain dancing all around you but not bothering you a bit……………!
Step 7: OK all relaxed now? It’s time to depart this oasis and go back inside. Get your towel wrapped around you and get into that warm robe! If it’s easier, leave the hot tub cover off and put it back on later when you are warm and dry, or better yet maybe you have a kind helper who will take care of it for you ;) Nothing kills the bliss you have just created more than struggling in the rain trying to get the cover back on, but if you must…then go for it!
Step 8: Well the sky is the limit now! Maybe you have a hot shower, warm bed, or a sauna to dive into next. Or maybe your private masseuse has shown up and is waiting for you next to a cozy wood stove or fireplace! Dream big, make it happen, and have fun!!!
